Chris Spann is the Senior Technical SEO at Lumar (formerly Deepcrawl). He joins me on this episode of Talks with SEOs (#TwSEOs) where we discuss communicating technical challenges to business leadership.
SEOs have a habit of ‘speaking SEO’ to business leadership. The result of this is an unwillingness, from business leaders, to be familiar with the channel. You can sympathise, can’t you…?
Why spend precious time learning to comprehend something that’s seemingly so minute to the business, especially when there are other options (channels) – that are easier to grasp?
If the option is to make a decision with the familiar, or to make one with the unfamiliar, surely the route via the known, known is better than the unknown? Yet, to key decision-makers, we often speak in SEO terms and expect them to be onside with the unfamiliar – regardless of the frustrations they experience.
Surely, there’s a better way. Surely, we can minimise (or remove) the frustrations? Surely, when it comes to communicating with key decision-makers, there’s an alternative to ‘speaking SEO’. On this episode of Talks with SEOs (#TwSEOs), Chris Spann and I discuss some of the more effective ways of communicating technical challenges to business leaders.
